    The Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, invites the media to witness history in the making at the first Inter-School Warri Championship.

    As Black History Month concludes, students from primary and secondary schools across the nation will compete in a high-stakes tournament of Warri—the traditional “thinking man’s game”. This event offers a unique visual of youth engagement with ancestral heritage, featuring intense matches of strategy and skill.

    This landmark event will bring together primary and secondary schools from across Antigua and Barbuda to compete in Warri, a traditional African board game that has long been a symbol of cultural pride and intellectual skill. The championship marks a significant step in reintroducing Warri to younger generations, ensuring its legacy continues to thrive in our communities.

    A Call to Schools and Communities

    All primary and secondary schools are invited to register their students for this exciting competition. Parents, teachers, and Warri enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and support the players as they showcase their skills in this culturally significant game.
