Caribbean Airlines is advising passengers travelling to and from Antigua and Barbuda to prepare for possible traffic delays and heightened security around V.C. Bird International Airport during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), scheduled for Nov. 1-4, 2026.

In a customer advisory, the airline warned that official movements, road restrictions and heavier traffic could affect access to the airport during the four-day event.

Passengers departing Antigua are being urged to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled flights and allow additional travel time to account for possible delays on surrounding roads.

The airline also encouraged travellers to have their documents ready for check-in and security screening and to verify their flight status before leaving home.

People collecting arriving passengers have also been advised to monitor flight updates and allow extra time to reach the airport.

Caribbean Airlines said online check-in is available from 24 hours until three hours before scheduled departure.

For international flights, airport check-in opens three hours before departure, while check-in counters and baggage drop facilities close one hour before the scheduled departure time.

The advisory comes as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to welcome Commonwealth leaders and delegations for CHOGM, with heightened security measures and official motorcades expected to affect movement in some areas.

The airline did not announce any flight cancellations or schedule changes in its advisory.

Police have previously assured travellers that the airport will remain operational during CHOGM, with traffic control points and temporary lane arrangements intended to maintain access to the terminal.

Caribbean Airlines is the latest regional carrier to issue travel guidance ahead of the summit, following a similar advisory from Liat Air.
