The West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) says some customers in Antigua and Barbuda may have their fuel deliveries rescheduled ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), as the company prepares for possible traffic and security restrictions.
In a public notice, WIOC assured commercial and residential customers that arrangements have been made to maintain normal operations with minimal or no disruptions during the international meeting.
The company said some customers may be contacted about adjustments to their scheduled deliveries to ensure they have adequate supplies before restrictions take effect.
“These measures are intended to ensure that customers have an adequate supply of product ahead of any zonal or traffic restrictions that may affect normal delivery schedules,” WIOC stated.
The company said the arrangements are designed to maintain reliable service throughout CHOGM and thanked customers for their understanding and cooperation.
WIOC did not identify which customers or delivery areas could be affected or specify when any schedule changes would take place.
The announcement follows concerns raised by WIOC at a recent CHOGM town hall meeting about maintaining fuel deliveries during road closures. Police advised the company to submit proposed delivery dates and times for coordination with the Traffic Department.
Antigua and Barbuda is scheduled to host CHOGM from November 1 to 4, bringing Commonwealth leaders and delegations to the country.
WIOC has not announced any general suspension of fuel deliveries during the event.
