Their Excellencies Sir Rodney and Lady Williams meet some of the students and teachers.

The Halo Foundation continues to highlight the importance of creativity, artistic expression and youth development through its Royal Drawing School Annual Art initiative, sponsored by the Jumby Bay Fund.

The Workshop is being hosted at Government House from October 12 and will conclude on November 4, 2026 — coincidentally concluding with the closing of CHOGM.

The classes welcomed participants 12 years and older, and this year included the registration of senior citizens. This provided an opportunity for aspiring artists to develop their drawing skills, explore their creativity and learn through artistic expression. Participation was free, allowing individuals from varying socioeconomic backgrounds to benefit from the programme.

The initiative aims to nurture emerging artistic talent while providing a platform for participants to showcase their work. Some of the selected artwork will be featured in an exhibition at Government House, with the top two participants receiving a ten-week online art workshop scholarship with the Royal Drawing School, an institution based in the United Kingdom. The scholarship is being awarded in recognition of their outstanding contribution and creativity.

Her Excellency Lady Williams said, “We usually work along with our very talented, renowned artists in Antigua and Barbuda, and we were very pleased to have Anson Henry on board in 2025. Unfortunately this year, all of the artists which we approached were involved in various other projects, so time did not permit them to add their talent to the teaching pool. We are looking forward to their involvement again in 2027”.

She added, “We are particularly grateful for the unwavering assistance of the Jumby Bay Fund, a non-profit entity which clearly understands the necessity of developing our local human resource and is always so gracious in their support of our efforts”.

The Halo Foundation recognizes that art is more than a form of self expression. It is a powerful tool for education, confidence building, cultural appreciation and personal growth. Through programmes such as the Royal Drawing School initiative, the Halo Foundation remains committed to creating meaningful opportunities for young people as well as adults.
