Senator Kendra Beazer has welcomed the commencement of road improvement works in Barbuda, marking an important step in the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s ongoing commitment to strengthening infrastructure and improving the quality of life for Barbudans.

The road programme aligns with the Government’s recently announced plans to invest significantly in Barbuda’s road network through a financing arrangement expected to provide approximately EC$50 million during the first year of implementation.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne stated that the initiative will be supported through financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and additional funding arrangements designed to accelerate infrastructure development on the island.

Senator Beazer noted that residents have long called for improvements to the island’s roads and expressed satisfaction that work is now underway.

“Reliable and resilient road infrastructure is essential to the daily lives of our residents, the growth of local businesses, and the continued development of Barbuda. I am pleased to see this programme moving from commitment to action and look forward to its continued progress in the months ahead.”

The works form part of a broader national development agenda for Barbuda, which includes investments in transportation, renewable energy, and other critical infrastructure intended to support sustainable growth and enhance community wellbeing. Senator Beazer encouraged residents to exercise caution around active work zones and thanked the contractors, engineers, and workers contributing to the successful implementation of the programme.
