The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) will begin issuing its new series of 5-cent circulation coins in Montserrat next week, followed by Grenada during the week of 16 November 2026. The new coins will be introduced in the remaining participating member countries during the week of 23 November 2026.

The introduction of the new coins features a redesigned obverse (front) bearing the ECCB logo, surrounded by the flags of the participating member countries of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU). This replaces the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II featured on the previous coin series.

The reverse (back) of the coin remains unchanged, retaining the traditional and iconic image of the sailing ship, the Golden Hind.

The redesigned coins represent an updated visual identity for the ECCB’s circulation currency while retaining a familiar feature of the existing coin series.

The ECCB will continue to provide information on the introduction of the new coins as they become available across the Currency Union.

The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) was established in October 1983. The ECCB is the Monetary Authority for: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
