A kitchen fire broke out in All Saints after a cooking gas tank was accidentally activated during the use of a new stove, triggering a loud explosion.

The homeowner’s brother was injured after receiving an electric shock while trying to help extinguish the blaze. He was treated at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre and later discharged.

Firefighters from the All Saints station, assisted by relatives using buckets of water, managed to bring the fire under control. The incident caused damage to louvers, a kitchen wall, and the back of the stove, but was largely contained to the kitchen.
