    Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting in Ottos

    The police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on McDonald Street in Ottos during the early hours of Friday, 1 August 2025.

    It was reported that around 1:30 a.m., a 54-year-old man from Ottos was walking home when he was approached by two unknown men. Both suspects were masked; one was wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans pants, and the other was dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans pants. They were described as being between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall.

    They reportedly confronted the Ottos resident and demanded money. A struggle ensued, during which one of the assailants, who was armed with a firearm, discharged his firearm and shot the man, and later fled the scene on foot in a northern direction along Independence Drive.

    Police arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he was treated for his injury which is considered to be non-life-threatening.

    The police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
