Barbuda has been placed under a tropical storm watch as Tropical Storm Erin moves through the northern Leeward Islands. The system is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane by tomorrow.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned that residents could experience heavy rainfall, strong winds, and rough seas. Authorities have urged locals to secure property and stay alert to official advisories.
“Tropical storm watches are issued to provide early notice of potentially dangerous conditions,” an NHC spokesperson said. “Everyone in the area should monitor updates closely and follow safety instructions.”
Officials are closely tracking Erin’s progress, with further advisories expected throughout the day. More information is available on the National Hurricane Center’s website.
