Ten community clinics across Antigua and Barbuda are set for major renovations as part of a $10 million project aimed at strengthening the country’s primary healthcare system.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Michael Joseph, announced that the upgrades will include new three-storey buildings, with dedicated storage areas and modern layouts. The plans have already received structural approval, and technical teams are finalizing operational designs.

“With this injection of funding, the aim is to strengthen primary health care,” Joseph said, noting that the upgrades will ease pressure on hospitals and improve access to care at the community level.

Beyond infrastructure, the ministry is also working to boost healthcare programmes, improve data collection, and address staffing gaps in the system.
