LETTER: Carnival City is a disaster waiting to happen

    Dear Editor,

I will be short and sweet. I attended the Melting Pot last night. It took me over 90 minutes to get in. Two gates were open. Did the Carnival Committee not expect this kind of crowd after all the hype? And was there no plan B?

Then once I got in and saw the massive crowd, I panicked. I wondered what safety measures were in place? What would people do if there was an emergency? Suppose there was a fire with all the fire effects and special effects? Suppose an electrical fire. Suppose with all the security, someone fired off a shot?

So I went in search of security and asked a uniformed Police Inspector this question. He said that as far as he knew all the gates were locked except for the entrance gates.

So my questions are this: Has Carnival City been inspected and approved by the Fire Services and NODS?

Why are there no clear EXIT signs? Why can’t we do anything the right way in this country? Why are we always having to react after the fact.

    Totally disgusted.
