Soca Monarch winner Tian Winter has responded to criticism and concerns raised about the judging of this year’s competition, calling for a focus on unity, growth, and musical excellence.

In a statement shared on social media, Winter addressed what he described as a recurring narrative that emerges whenever he wins.

“When Tian lose the competition is judged fairly, as soon as Tian win the judges thief,” he wrote, accompanied by laughing emojis.

His remarks follow online discussions questioning the outcome of the 2025 Soca Monarch finals, with some fans suggesting the judging may have been biased. However, Winter appeared unbothered by the chatter and instead used the moment to recognise all competitors and advocate for higher standards across the industry.

“Big up to all the artist in the entire competition, from quarters to finals,” he continued. “Let’s focus on raising the standard and making timeless music and getting our music out to the masses. Manners and Respect.”

Winter’s response has resonated with supporters who view his comments as a mature and constructive approach to post-competition controversy. He has long been one of the island’s most decorated and respected soca artists, known for his powerful vocals and polished performances.

The Soca Monarch competition is one of the most anticipated events of Antigua Carnival, and judging outcomes often spark passionate debate. Despite the criticism, Winter’s response has helped shift the conversation toward artistic integrity and unity within the soca community.
