In a significant stride toward agricultural modernization, 25 professionals from Antigua and Barbuda are set to take part in a specialized training course on the use and maintenance of small agricultural machinery. Hosted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences Group Co., Ltd. (CAAMS), the three-week programme will run from August 11 to 31, 2025, in Beijing, with educational excursions to Luoyang and Jinhua.

This initiative is part of China’s broader effort to strengthen technical cooperation with developing countries under the China-Aid Programme, promoting shared knowledge and capacity building. CAAMS, a national leader in agricultural innovation, has trained over 6,000 professionals from more than 100 countries since the 1980s.

Participants will engage in a combination of lectures, field visits, technical internships, and cultural exchanges, covering a wide range of topics including:

    – Operation and Maintenance of Small Agricultural Machinery

    – Smart Agriculture and Intelligent Irrigation

    – Facility Greenhouse and Photovoltaic Agriculture Technologies

    – Animal Husbandry and Conservation Tillage Equipment

The training also includes visits to major agricultural equipment manufacturers such as YTO Group Corporation, Zhejiang Sifang Group, and CHIAIC, allowing participants to observe cutting-edge machinery in action and receive hands-on practice in operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

This training goes beyond technical knowledge. Cultural visits to iconic sites like the Temple of Heaven and Juyongguan Great Wall, along with a China-Antigua and Barbuda Cultural Exchange session, will help foster deeper mutual understanding and goodwill between both nations.

With Antigua and Barbuda striving to enhance food security and agricultural resilience, this training offers a timely opportunity to empower local professionals with the skills and exposure needed to drive innovation back home.

The experience will culminate with participants sharing their insights in a final Technical Q&A and Training Summary, as well as presentations on Antigua and Barbuda’s agricultural landscape and development needs, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration with China in the future.
