Police are investigating a suspected fraud in which a man allegedly paid $14,000 Eastern Caribbean dollars for vehicle clearance services that were never carried out.

The complainant, from Follies Development, told officers he handed the money to a Gunthorpes resident in April 2025 to clear a vehicle from the port in St John’s. However, months later, he has reportedly not received the vehicle.

He claims the recipient has since ceased all communication, and repeated attempts to reach them by phone and in person have been unsuccessful.
