Minister of Urban Transformation Rawdon Turner has announced a unified commitment to revitalise the Woods Pond area following what he described as a “productive and positive” meeting with local vendors.

Turner met with those operating in the space to discuss the government’s proposed intervention to upgrade the site, which he said was met with “full support” from the vendors.

“The vendors share our vision for a cleaner, safer, and more organized space that reflects the pride we all have in our community,” Turner said. “They understand the importance of upgrading the site and are eager to play their part in the transformation.”

The meeting also included discussions with the current landowner, who, according to the minister, has pledged full support for the initiative — a key factor in enabling the regularisation of operations at the site.

“This alignment between Government, vendors, and landowner is a critical first step,” Turner noted. “This is what partnership looks like — and this is how we build a better Antigua & Barbuda, one space at a time.”

The planned transformation aims to enhance public health, safety, and business efficiency in the Woods Pond area, long known as a hub for small-scale commerce.

No timeline has yet been given for when work on the upgrades will commence.
