The UWI Seismic Research Centre (SRC) has reported a magnitude 3.9 earthquake that occurred northeast of Antigua on Sunday morning.
According to the preliminary data, the tremor struck at approximately 9:00 a.m. local time (13:00 UTC) on 25 May 2025. The earthquake’s epicentre was located at latitude 17.68°N and longitude 61.59°W, at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The seismic event was situated roughly 69 kilometres northeast of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. It was also recorded 120 kilometres northeast of Brades, Montserrat, and 134 kilometres east-northeast of Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis.
SRC officials noted that this is an automatically generated location and the data is subject to revision following further analysis by seismologists.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
