Two men charged over $372,000 cannabis seizure

A Jamaican man was remanded to prison while a local co-accused secured bail, following the seizure of cannabis worth $372,000 at Deep-Water Harbour.

Francis Young, who is already facing another legal matter, was denied bail when he appeared before Magistrate Dexter Wason on Monday. He will remain in custody ahead of his next court date.

Meanwhile, Nadeem Brandon Doumith of Crosbies was granted bail set at $300,000, along with a $20,000 surety. His conditions include surrendering his passport and reporting to police three times weekly.

The men were jointly charged after 62 pounds of cannabis were found at the port on 9 May. Allegations include possession, intent to transfer, importation, supply, and conspiracy to traffic cannabis.
