Antigua and Barbuda-based LIAT Air is marking its first anniversary after launching in the wake of LIAT (1974) Ltd.’s collapse during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Relaunched as LIAT 20 and later rebranded, the airline began operations without support from several former shareholder governments, including Barbados, Dominica, and St Vincent and the Grenadines, who opted not to reinvest.

Despite the lack of regional backing, Antigua and Barbuda pressed ahead, securing a key partnership with Nigeria’s Air Peace, which contributed funding and aircraft.

Now operating under the name LIAT Air, the airline serves 13 Caribbean destinations, stretching from Jamaica to Guyana.
