    Two Cedar Valley residents sentenced for drugs and ammunition offences

    Two residents of Cedar Valley have been sentenced following a police raid earlier this week.

    Mandella Spencer, 39, was ordered to pay $11,000 within a year or serve a one-year prison term for possession of 368.9 grams of cannabis. She was reprimanded and discharged for possessing eight cannabis plants.

    Nyana Alfred, 23, received a four-week prison sentence for unlawful possession of four rounds of ammunition and was reprimanded and discharged for possessing 0.2 grams of cocaine.

    The pair were arrested on Tuesday after a Criminal Investigations Department raid uncovered cannabis, cocaine, and ammunition. Both initially faced multiple charges, including possession with intent to transfer and cannabis cultivation.

    They pleaded guilty to the charges during a court appearance on Thursday and were sentenced by Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel.
