The Social Protection Board has begun its annual back-to-school supplies distribution, with up to 400 families set to benefit over the next two days.

The event, taking place at the Rising Sun Grounds, provides school bags filled with books, pens, pencils and other essentials. Some families will also receive shoes, but officials say children must be present to ensure proper fitting.

Operations Manager Mary Baltimore said the initiative, supported by local businesses, targets families struggling to meet the costs of education.

Formerly known as the Board of Guardians, the agency also offers monthly food vouchers and emergency aid, and extends support to residents in Barbuda.
